Tagging Joe Mettle As The Best Not Necessary – Mark Okraku Mantey: Fans and sympathizers of the one-time VGMA ‘Artiste of the Year’, Joe Mettle, have in the last couple of days taken gospel songstress, Patience Nyarko to the cleaners for comments passed by the latter in a radio interview on Onua 95.1 FM.
Patience Nyarko questioned the songwriting skills and the relevance of Joe Mettle after he was tagged by the likes of radio presenter, OB Nartey and music promoter, Alordia – as being the go-to gospel artiste in Ghana at the moment.
Reacting to the situation which has seen such scathing attack on the female artiste, venerated music connoisseur, Mark Okraku Mantey, on Hitz Fm’s ‘Daybreak’ Hitz expressed that the commentary of Joe Mettle being the most relevant gospel artiste in the country is not necessary.
“I hear one presenter and Alordia tagged Joe Mettle as the best or most relevant gospel artiste. That is not necessary.” he stated.
He also questioned why the presenter, Christian Agyei Frimpong of Onua FM, would bring up such a sensitive topic for discussion.
He suggested that, everything has become a competition now, including Christianity and any related matter that hinges on ego and self-esteem of personalities could be very sensitive.
Mark Okraku, who is also the Head of the Creative Arts Council of Ghana, gave indications on what may have caused Patience Nyarko to pass such assertions on Joe Mettle’s brand.
“Patience Nyarko’s ‘Obi Nyani Mi’ was a big song. I remember during Dr. Osei Kwame Despite’s birthday, he requested for just one song and that was the song. Patience is partly bruised for losing out on the 2018 VGMA ‘Gospel Song of the Year’ to Joe Mettle’s ‘Bo Noo Ni’. So, to come out again and make her look inferior to the same Joe Mettle?”
In related development, the female songstress is still standing by her comments and has no intention of rendering any form of apology. She is also receiving some support from some industry players and music lovers for her analysis made on Onua FM.
