You Are Mentally Safe When You Don’t Focus On The Grammys – Diana Hamilton
Ghanaian music sensation, Diana Antwi Hamilton, says it is mentally safe when the focus of musicians is on the music rather than the Grammys.
“We do anything humanly possible to surpass ourselves and then we leave the rest to God because when it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t happen it’s not our time. If you have that mentality, you’re safe and don’t care what happens. If it doesn’t happen then there’s another time”.
The 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the year made the comment on the back of the release of the nominees for the 65th Grammys Award which is slated for February 2023.
The nominees list has generated public discussion, and rightly so, about why and how only Rocky Dawuni seems to be getting recognized by the prestigious award whiles the ‘big artistes’ always miss out.
She observed this culminate into some load of pressure on the musician to release songs without properly planning well.
Speaking to DJ Reuben on Drivetime on LUV FM in Kumasi, the Gospel Artist of the Year, said she is not pressured to release hit songs but leaves it to God “to do His mighty works”.
According to her, the pressure on her is the clarity and authenticity of the message she preaches in her songs as well as putting the right people on the job.
Diana Hamilton has been a solo artist for about 16 years but has been in the music industry for about 30 years.
“… every step she took, every corner she entered, every disappointment she faced, every door that was shut, every opened door, every joy, and every cry have all been part of the ingredients that have made me who I am today,” she said.
