Chairman Apostle Eric Nyamekye Takes Jab Of Covid-19 Vaccine
Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye has joined President Akufo Addo, First Lady Rebecca Akufo Addo and other key figures to take the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Apostle Eric Nyamekye was spotted during a live telecast of the vaccination process on major media outlets as well as social media platforms to boost confidence in citizens to take the vaccine. They took their first dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.
This comes after widespread myths and conspiracy theories over the efficacy of the vaccines, especially on social media. The Church of Pentecost however has indicated that it is not against the administration of COVID-19 vaccines.
The church noted that “there are clear theological, social, scientific, medical, legal, and economic implications for the general misinformation and conspiracy theories circulating in the mass media (mostly on social media), which pose a threat to fighting the pandemic.”
On Wednesday, February 24, government took delivery of 600,000 AstraZeneca dose as part of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) global vaccine-sharing program.
President Akufo-Addo in his 24th address to the nation on measures taken to mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the country assured that the Covid-19 vaccines are safe and would not pose any threat to the health of any citizen.
