Mercy Chinwo Slams ₦2Billion Lawsuit On Artiste For Using Her Name In Music
Mercy Chinwo, a gospel artist, has filed a lawsuit against hip-hop artist Obidiz for character defamation and unauthorized use of name and image.
Mercy Chinwo filed a lawsuit against Obidiz following the release of his latest single, Mercy Chinwo.
Mercy Chinwo was mentioned in the song by the artist as an example of a wayward club girl.
“She dey share me the cake, but she no want commit. Mercy Chinwo for church, but for club na Cardi B sef.”
According to the gospel artist’s suit, Obidiz made “derogatory and defamatory use of Mercy Chinwo’s name and image in secular music audio and video” and issued a “Notice to cease and desist.”
According to the document, Obidiz is not to use Mercy Chinwo’s name or image again.
He must also remove the song and promotional videos and issue a public apology. Failure to comply with these demands may result in a N2,000,000,000 fine.
