Catholic Actor Mark Wahlberg Keen to Do More Faith-based Films
Christian actor Mark Wahlberg has said he’s keen to look for more roles “that will help people” after playing a priest in his latest film.
He told Entertainment Tonight that he’s keen to involve himself in more faith-based roles, but is also considering leaving Hollywood “sooner rather than later.”
The 50-year-old actor – a devout Catholic – recently starred as Father Stu in The Fighter.
The film tells the story of a washed-up boxer who finds his calling as a priest.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “”I feel like this is starting a new chapter for me in that, now, doing things like this — real substance — can help people,” he said. “I definitely want to focus on making more. I wouldn’t say necessarily just faith-based content but things that will help people. So, hopefully this movie will open a door for not only myself but for lots of other people in Hollywood to make more meaningful content.”
The father-of-four also said he struggles to find a balance when imparting his faith on his teenage children, without being overbearing.
After filming more than 60 movies, he’s decided it might be time to hang up his hat, in order to focus on raising his children.
